Rewilding Velebit’s ranger workshops reach a key milestone

We are very proud – our wildlife and nature conservation workshop programme, which now in its fourth year, has surpassed the milestone of 1000 young participants. While we are happy to have raised awareness of the importance of preserving Velebit among such a large number of children, we are aslo looking forward to new encounters.

Chamois – perfectly adapted to life on Velebit

It is now five decades since the first chamois were reintroduced in the Velebit area, and the speies has been continuously present here ever since. While the chamois population in Velebit is gradually increasing, there is room and reason to increase numbers further, as well as increasing the amount of habitat that could support this iconic and ecologically important animal.

Ponds – water makes the Velebit stay wild

Seven years ago, we started restoring water ponds, wells and springs on Velebit, in order to provide a safe source of water for wildlife on this karst terrain. So far, we have renovated or built 30 new water bodies.
