We want to demonstrate that rewilding can generate new business opportunities, jobs and income. By building this ‘business case for the wild’, we can provide new opportunities for rural economies – which are now often associated with declining economic productivity, rural depopulation and land abandonment.
We believe dynamic and contemporary wildlife and nature-based businesses can benefit local societies by creating new economic opportunities that are closely tied to the health of natural environments.
The Rewilding Velebit Network gathers local producers and service providers operating in the area of Velebit, Lika-Senj County and beyond. The aim of this network is to support small entrepreneurs who, with the Rewilding Velebit Foundation, share a love for nature, the traditions of the Velebit region and the protection of Velebit’s biodiversity. The aspiration is to develop sustainable businesses for the benefit of nature and local community members through mutual support and promotion.
Accommodation
Camp Velebit is located in the small village of Baške Oštarije on the top of the Velebit Mountains. It is surrounded by mountain peaks and viewpoints on the Adriatic islands. It is decorated in a fairy-tale style that draws its inspiration from old folk traditions. Our uniqueness is “Crobbiton”, a small colony in the middle of the camp made of dugouts where you can stay. Numerous hiking trails and climbing areas are available nearby, and you can meet shepherds, sheep, horses and cows in the surrounding pastures. A unique place to experience the mountain and the sea in one day.

Eco village Krš/Karst, as the name suggests, is a village located in the heart of untouched nature, fresh air and green landscapes. It is situated in the heart of Lika, in the municipality of Perušić, halfway between Otočac and Gospić. The village consists of four houses with associated canopies, barbecues and farm buildings, and its capacity enables the simultaneous stay of a large number of people. The richness of green areas for outdoor activities, walks and undisturbed play will win the children hearts and provide you with peace and rest.

Adventure centre Rizvan City is situated in Lika, in a typical small village called Rizvanuša located in the Velebit Nature Park. The old family farm was transformed into an adventure and excursion centre where they offer many unique attractive and adventure activities such as zip line, high ropes course, climbing wall, giant swing, quad safari, archery and other, suitable for groups and individuals. As part of the adventure centre Rizvan City you can spend the night in the newly renovated Lika house built with traditional materials, stone and wood, or in a new camp. Camping is possible with campers, tents or you can rent a wooden bungalow.

“Dragec” craft for passenger transport offers passenger transport services by modern vans (8 + 1) and minibus (22 + 1) on all routes tailored to your needs. They are located in the small village of Krasno, close to Northern Velebit National Park. Their mission is to ensure safe, accurate, comfortable and reliable passenger transport on all routes in Croatia. The most common routes of transport are in the area of northern and central Velebit, but they create excursions, trips and private transfers according to your wishes. They also offer mountain bike rental.
