We’re walking a path we’ve never walked before—we’ve recorded the first rewilding song and created the first rewilding music video for it. It’s time to sing about rewilding!
Velebit is a beautiful home to unique and fascinating flora and fauna, an area of spectacular views and unforgettable landscapes, a place where people can deeply enjoy the peace and beauty of nature, and an inspiration to many—writers, painters, poets… It also served as an inspiration for our guests.
Soon after their first visit to Velebit, the Zagreb-based trio Kuku$ wrote ‘Rewilding’, the first song created within our rewilding family. A music video was also filmed for it. The song tells the story of a lone wanderer on Velebit who, as he passes through valleys, forests, and over rocks, contemplates the changes happening in nature and on Velebit. He comes to the realizastion that the solution to these challenges is—rewilding.
To their usual trap-rap sound, they added a powerful rock guitar, symbolising nature’s immense strength to help itself and people with the right intentions. When these elements came together, we got a motivating song with a catchy sound that sends a powerful message about human activation and the restoration of nature.
The music video for the song was filmed at various locations on Velebit and in Lika Plains, under different weather conditions. It shows the richness of the local nature—wild animals like bears, lynx, wolves, deer, roe deer, Taurus bovines, and semi-wild horses, as well as various habitats—forests, meadows, valleys, peaks, ridges, fields, coves, and the sea. The goal was to show the truly great natural diversity and beauty of Velebit and to further raise awareness about the need for its restoration and preservation, which we do through rewilding.
The music video features the song’s creators, whom we thank for their pleasant and warm collaboration, as well as members of the Rewilding Velebit team. We also thank Rewilding Europe for their support in creating this music video.
